About Us
WHO WE ARE & WHAT BRINGS US TOGETHER
Edmonton Newcomers & Friends Club (ENFC) is a non-denominational, non-profit, volunteer-led organization for women and a proud member of the National Newcomers Association of Canada. Our women’s club is a place for you to make friends, explore new interests, and enjoy everything Edmonton has to offer.
While many of our members are new to the city, our name – Newcomers & Friends – reflects that all women are welcome, whether you’ve just arrived or are simply looking to connect in a new way.
What We Do
Make Friends & Make Memories
As a community of women in Edmonton, we come together for a variety of activities designed to foster connection and friendship.
Our activities are the heart of who we are, creating meaningful opportunities to connect, discover new interests, and build friendships all year long.
Activities include walking groups, book club, lunches, games, theatre outings, dinners out, and outdoor events (yes, even in winter!).
Some events even welcome guests so you can include the people closest to you.
Our Activities
BOOK CLUB
A once-a-month gathering that pairs great books with thoughtful conversation and good company.
BRIDGE
A welcoming group for members who enjoy a game of bridge, whether you’re brushing up your skills or playing regularly.
DRINKS & APPIES
A relaxed social gathering where members enjoy light bites, refreshments, and good conversation in welcoming settings around the city.
FRIDAY COFFEE
A popular, relaxed gathering twice a month where members connect over coffee, conversation, and welcoming company.
GAME NIGHT
An evening of fun and friendly competition — join fellow members for games and laughs!
LADIES WHO LUNCH
A fun way to explore Edmonton’s wide range of restaurants while sharing a relaxed meal and great conversation.
LET’S GO TO THE MOVIES
Join fellow members for a movie outing and enjoy good company, shared laughs, and conversation.
MAHJONG
A fun, relaxed way to play and learn Mahjong — no experience necessary!
MEMBER-LED EVENTS
Join in on unique, one-off events where members can propose and enjoy something new together.
POTLUCK LUNCH
A relaxed and welcoming gathering where members share a meal and contribute a dish to enjoy together.
THEATRE & CONCERT EVENTS
Experience Edmonton’s theatre, symphony, and concert events while enjoying great company and shared outings with fellow members.
WALK & TALK
A relaxed way to enjoy Edmonton’s incredible pathways and parks while connecting with other members, often followed by a casual social gathering.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Our three seasonal social events include the Fall Meet & Greet, Winterfest Social, and Spring Social. They bring all members together to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the community we’ve built. These gatherings welcome new members, mark milestones throughout the year, and offer a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that is always well attended.
One of the nicest surprises of joining “Newcomers and Friends” in the fall of 2025 was meeting a group of like-minded women my age who are genuinely welcoming and inclusive.
There are so many activities that a person can do, it is impossible to do it all. I can be really busy or pick and choose what I love to do, ie. the theatre.
I’m grateful to have made new friends that can laugh together, have good conversations and who support each other.

Coffee Gatherings
Fridays are for Coffee
One of the highlights of our women’s group is meeting for coffee twice monthly, held at various locations across the city – including in members’ homes. It’s a relaxed, friendly way to catch up, meet new friends, and enjoy great conversation.
Membership
JOIN THE CLUB
If you’re thinking of joining the club, we welcome you to attend up to two activities before deciding to join. This gives you an opportunity to meet members, experience our activities, and see if Edmonton Newcomers & Friends is the right fit for you!
Membership is open to adult women and runs annually from July 1st to June 30th.
Our 2026-2027 annual membership fees are:
- $40 for new members (includes a name tag)
- $35 for returning members
- $30 Early Bird Special for 2026-2027 members who pay by June 30, 2026.
To become a member, complete the Membership Application and submit your annual fee. Once both are received, you will be sent our membership newsletter and invitations to join our events.
As a member, you are welcome to participate in as many activities and events as you wish. Some activities involve additional costs, such as restaurant meals or theatre tickets, etc.

Having just moved to Alberta I was missing family and friends. I heard about the Newcomers from a lady I met in another province.
It was just what I needed. I was hoping to find a way to connect with other women and make new friends. I have not been disappointed. The ladies are wonderful, wise and welcoming. My life changed immediately with the first gathering I attended.
